The Master of Buddhist Studies (MBuddhStud) programme, offered in collaboration with the Centre of Buddhist Studies, offers high-quality teaching on the fundamental understanding and in-depth analysis of Buddhism from textual, doctrinal and historical perspectives. It further aims to provide training in the practical use of Buddhist teachings in modern societies, and offers a critical review of Buddhism in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the region. Topics include the history and doctrines of the different Buddhist traditions, contemporary Buddhism, and Buddhism as applied in counselling, palliative care and psychotherapy, with particular reference to current scholarly research.
The programme is intended both for professionals such as teachers, psychologists, social workers and counsellors, who are interested in applying Buddhist teachings in their daily work, and for individuals interested in studying Buddhism as a means of spiritual development. It also serves as an excellent basis for candidates planning to study for research degrees in the field.
