Programmes Offered by University of Cambridge

 

The following colleges at University of Cambridge accept visiting students from the University of Hong Kong under Junior Year Abroad programme. Admitted students will spend one year (2018/19) studying at University of Cambridge as a visiting student with substantial scholarships.

 

Programme Expenses

Students are responsible to cover their own airfare, tuition fee (university fee and college fee), living costs at Cambridge. For details, please refer to Finance for Undergraduates

Who Can Apply?

Application is open to all full-time non-first, non-final year undergraduate students who:

  • Have already completed at least one year of study at the time of application; preference will be given to students who are currently in their second year of study and will go to Cambridge in the third year
  • Major in disciplines that are offered under the JYA programme
  • Have good academic performance and maintain a high CGPA of 3.5 or above, or are among the top 10% of the cohort
  • Demonstrate excellent spoken and written English; please refer to Cambridge's English language requirements

 

Application Procedure 

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Supporting documents should be submitted online. The forms are in writeable Word format, so only the electronic version is required. Each complete document should be saved in PDF format before uploading to the system.
  3. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview.
  4. Nominated applicants will be instructed to prepare and submit application documents to the University of Cambridge.

 

Supporting Documents

  1. Personal Statement and Study Plan
    Please give careful thought to your responses to the questions. The admissions committee is interested in hearing from you in your own words, about your goals, interests and perspectives – and in how you express yourself.
  2. Academic Record
    The academic record should be supported with a transcript.
  3. Transcript copy
    You should submit a copy of your HKU transcript or a print-out of your grade page from the portal showing your previous academic results, including your latest CGPA at HKU. Nominated students will need to submit an official HKU transcript at a later stage.
  4. Resumé
    Please include your academic experience, extracurricular interests and any work or volunteer experience.
  5. Copy of valid TOEFL/ IELTS report (Cambridge requirement)

 


 

Programme Offered by University of Oxford

 

Oxford Pembroke operates a vibrant, full-year Visiting Student programme with select US universities. All visiting students studying at Pembroke for their Junior Year Abroad (JYA) enjoy the full ‘Oxford’ experience. Now Pembroke College also accepts visiting students from the University of Hong Kong under the Junior Year Abroad programme. Admitted students will spend one year (2018/19) studying at Pembroke College and are eligible for substantial scholarships.

 

Programme Expenses

Students must cover their own airfares, tuition fees (university and college fees) and living costs at Oxford.

  • Tuition: GBP27,747 (from 2016/17)
  • Accommodation: GBP3,966 (basic) or GBP5,301 (en-suite) (from 2015/16)
  • Utilities: GBP348 (from 2015/16)

 

Who Can Apply?

Application is available to all full-time non-first, non-final year undergraduate students who:

  • Have already completed at least one year of study at the time of application; preference will be given to students who are currently in their second year of study and will go to Oxford in their third year (second year undergraduate level at Oxford)
  • Have good academic performance and maintain a high CGPA of 3.7 or above
  • Demonstrate excellent spoken and written English (please refer to Oxford's English language requirements)
  • Apply through online application system

  • Short-listed applicants will be invited to an interview.
  • Nominated students should submit their completed application with two reference letters to Pembroke College by January 2018. It is strongly suggested that applicants apply for their latest transcript and approach two referees in advance before the nomination offer is made.
