[For students who have received more than one Offer of Admission from the University]
Student Visa (Non-Local Students Only)
If you are a Non-Local / International Student, you must apply for HKSAR Student Visa for the purpose of education. You are strongly recommended to apply for a student visa through Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) or you may choose to apply via local Chinese Embassy. Normally, whole visa application process takes up to 12 weeks.
Details will be ready in January 2017.
The University of Hong Kong offers Hall of Residence/Residential College to Full-time Undergraduate Students. You may apply to live in one of the following halls and colleges.
Fee & Tuition
Above figures are references only, Extra funds for sports goods, durable goods, overseas travel, personal items, insurance and medical expenses should be allowed.
Payment of Tuition
Tuition fee and university accommodation fee are charged in two installments. Payment due dates for 1st and 2nd installments are normally in October and January respectively. Payment slips and payment instructions for the tuition fees and university accommodation fees will be sent to you through your HKU Portal account (email) after your complete the formal Registration.
The non-refundable deposit (i.e.HK$10,000) that you are required to pay to confirm your acceptance of the admission offer cannot be deducted from the entrance scholarship (if any). The deposit will however be deducted from the 1st installment of tuition fee payment so that you will only have to pay the remaining balance.
Medical Care and Medical Insurance
All entitled students who pay composition fees are eligible to receive medical benefits from University Health Service. Please refer to the following link for more details http://www.uhs.hku.hk/. Also, student may choose to visit private clinics around campus or government owned public hospitals.
Medical insurance is not mandatory in Hong Kong, but you may purchase one for a better coverage of medical expenses. Competitive packages are offered by various insurance companies in Hong Kong.
We have a number of buddies, who are current international student at HKU, ready to talk to you in our Facebook group “Future HKU Students”, to share their experience at HKU and in Hong Kong. Simply click “Join” on the group and send a private message to the group admin with your full name and application number. You will also be able to meet other newly admitted students in the group!

HKU Student Ambassador Scheme was initiated in 2005. Student Ambassadors represent the university at official events promoting the spirit, pride and traditions of HKU.
