Programme Aims and Features
The Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Science programme, jointly offered by departments of the Faculty of Engineering, aims to provide high-calibre students with a comprehensive engineering programme and equip them with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills in engineering and other, non-technical fields. The programme is a timely initiative in response to the world's ever-changing needs. There are five major options under the Engineering Science programme: Computing and Data Analytics, Biomedical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Materials Engineering. Students receive solid technical training in an engineering field and develop a broad range of skills in other disciplines. Students taking Engineering Science are able to pursue second major or minor options in other disciplines.
Graduates can apply for professional recognition in various engineering disciplines with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), subject to the relevance of courses completed under the BEng in Engineering Science degree to the discipline concerned.
With strong demand for graduates with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills in both technical and non-technical fields, graduates of the BEng in Engineering Science programme will have an edge in their careers thanks to their broadened horizons and broad-based training, and be better prepared to embark on challenging careers in engineering, business, education or government.
Graduates of the programme are also well equipped to pursue further studies for postgraduate degrees in various disciplines.
