About the Faculty
The Faculty of Business and Economics was created through the amalgamation of two schools: the School of Business and the School of Economics and Finance. The Faculty of Business and Economics takes an entrepreneurial approach to meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing economic and business environment by drawing together the strengths of the two schools.
Our students can choose from an unusually rich set of cross-disciplinary studies offered by both institutions. The School of Business equips students with the vision and practical tools necessary to become successful business leaders in Hong Kong, Greater China and further afield. The School of Economics and Finance provides a strong grounding in both theoretical and applied aspects of economics, allowing students to analyse how business and policy decisions are made in a dynamic world.
School of Business
The School of Business offers five undergraduate programmes: BBA, BBA(Acc&Fin), BBA(IBGM), BBA(IS) and BBA(Law)&LLB. The first three programmes normally take four years and are designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the key aspects of the field of management. In addition, they enable students to view Asia from both regional and international perspectives. The BBA(IBGM) is an interdisciplinary programme in international business and global management. It includes an overseas exchange and an international field trip/internship. The BBA(IS) and BBA(Law)&LLB programmes are offered in collaboration with other departments; students are able to pursue two degrees over five years. Students only need to obtain the first degree for admission to the fifth year of study, which leads to the second degree. The fifth year of the BBA(IS) and BBA(Law)&LLB programmes are operated on a self-financing basis; students are therefore required to pay more than the standard undergraduate tuition fees. Students enrolled in the optional year of study can apply for financial assistance under the government's Non-means-tested Loan Scheme.
By focusing on skills and concepts that are relevant to regional needs, programmes within the School of Business prepare students for leadership in the rapidly evolving business landscape of the Asia-Pacific Region. The programmes combine high-calibre training with essential support networks from the business community. Vital to the programmes' mission is that students understand Asia's role in a global context.
School of Economics and Finance
The School of Economics and Finance offers three undergraduate programmes: BEcon, BEcon&Fin and BSc(QFin). Each programme combines a theoretical understanding of economics and finance with practical applications, using examples from Hong Kong and elsewhere. Students are given the latitude to tailor a programme that suits their particular academic and professional interests.
As the leading provider of undergraduate education in economics and finance in the region, the School of Economics and Finance is committed to the training of quality graduates in these fields. The programmes prepare students to either excel in their careers or pursue further academic studies.
